American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly songs that dealt with sexual identity and race with a boldly comedic perspective before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. She was born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. Also, she received classical and jazz training later when she began to explore hip-hop as a teenager. While in the school, she focused on the field of journalism as well as women's studies. She also studied Mandarin during a time in Beijing. Not until after graduation did she begin to concentrate on music. Following her viral success through the Internet and her own song My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually appeared on her debut album Yellow Ranger.
